# Offenses Against Persons

### V.1 Assault

A person who intentionally puts another in the reasonable belief of imminent physical harm or offensive contact. This includes anyone threatening to harm or kill you or someone else.

### V.2 Battery

A person who intentionally causes physical harm or bodily injury to another person. Battery is defined as the moment aggressive physical contact occurs.

### V.3 Aggravated Battery

A person who causes the infliction of serious or grievous bodily injury with or without the use of a dangerous weapon. Continued physical violence against an individual shall also fall under aggravated battery.

### V.4 Involuntary Manslaughter

The least serious degree of homicide. Recklessly kills another person due to carelessness or reckless indifference to a substantial risk. Occurs when a person did not intend to kill nor was premeditated.

### V.5 Vehicular Manslaughter

Reckless or negligent killing of another through the use of a vehicle.

### V.6 First Degree Murder

Kills another person with the intent to kill and premdiation and deliberation. First degree murder is defined by a person’s premediated forethought or plan to commit the murder."

### V.7 Unlawful Imprisonment

Restricts a person's movement within any area without justification or consent.

### V.8 Kidnapping

Abducts another person and holds them against their will for an extended period of time.

### V.9 Hostage Taking

Holds a person with a threat to their life or well being with intent or declaration of using them for leverage for escape or personal gain.

### V.10 Reckless Endangerment

Disregard for one's own life or the life of another.
